A few months ago, we were contacted to supply modular benches and planters, combining high quality concrete, hardwood, steel and aluminum as part of urban furniture additions of a bigger project in Maroussi Municipality.

Through Isola Urbana Collection, designed by Raffaele Lazzari and Massimo Tasca and produced by Metalco, we were able to meet the needs of the Historic & Commercial Center of Maroussi; aesthetics and functionality. The restrictions of available free areas were overcome as Isola Urbana products may stand alone -as bench, bench with wooden seats, bench with seats and table, chaise lounges, planters- or in composition with other elements of Isola Urbana collection.

Citizens and owners of the shops are really excited about these new modern additions, and they enjoy their break either during shopping time or during their work schedule.

The most impressive product of the whole project, transforming the point into landmark was the addition of the Kore linear composition in front of Maroussi railway station. Metalco has received the Red Dot Award 2022 and 2023 urban design for the modular bench KORE. Designed by architect Michele Slaviero, Kore perfectly combines aesthetics and functionality, as citizens can sit, lie down, relax, enjoy their break, talk, read news. Through its shape, Kore may welcome at the same time six different companies.

The need for litter collection was covered through Spencer C litter bins, designed by Alfredo Tasca for Metalco.

A few months ago, we have been contacted so as to discuss about the alternative solutions that we could offer for a mall, with dominant element the concrete. The building welcomes many visitors and employees every day, whereas many sport and child-development activities take place in 1st and 2nd floor. Waiting hours of public service or ballet lessons or Pilates classes should be transformed into “waiting time in your living room”.

The selection of the urban furniture was based on high-quality materials, unique design, as well as the possibility of having both linear and curvilinear products. The Diamante Collection in white concrete combined with hardwood accessories, designed by Michele Slaviero and produced by Metalco, has met the needs. Aster planters provided the final touch; cylindrical planters of different diameters and heights were selected compiling an urban friendly environment for all. Unique fact: The light game between the roof openings and Diamante benches.

Michele Slaviero is a well known architect, who is particularly interested in issues of sustainability (he created the first building in Veneto to be certified the Golden Class Eco-home), and techno-structural techniques of finishing and use of color.

“We selected the equipment in the building based on 2 factors, “material”
and “geometry”. The main building materials are exposed concrete and rough surfaces, so we chose equipment made of concrete with hardwood details. Thus, we emphasized the warm feeling into the atrium spaces, and the smooth transition to the new planting areas. Regarding the factor of “geometry”, we highlighted the new furniture through the means of contrast. We designed with smooth curves, in contrast to the strict straight lines and cubic spaces of the building”

We are happy to announce that the Urban Mirror system, designed by Davide Anzalone and Alberto Mattiello for Metalco, has been selected for the ADI Design Index 2022.

The selection, edited by the Permanent Design Observatory, identifies the best Italian design that stands out for its originality, functional innovation, production processes, materials used, respect for the environment and social utility and presents it in a yearbook, a website and a series of exhibitions.

In addition, the products selected can compete for the XXVIII Compasso d’Oro ADI, the world’s oldest and most authoritative design award.

Urban Mirror is much more than a collection of street furniture: designed to amplify the beauty of its surroundings, bring new energy and promote freedom of expression, it makes every place a stage.
The entire collection is designed to integrate elements and accessories, from bicycle racks to benches.

The Deutsche Schule Athen was founded in 1896. In 2021 the school could realize the first part of the renovation of its outdoor spaces, namely the sports facilities. Mrs Mirto Matala and Katerina Daskalaki were the lead architects that have transformed the old sport facilities into a unique multi-sport professional area, with the assistance of plethron Construction company.

The selection of the urban furniture needed to cover micro-waste disposal requirements was based on high-quality materials, as well as sustainability. The Spencer CP, designed by Alfredo Tasca and produced by Metalco, has met the needs.

The Spencer CP is produced by Metalco, one of the world’s leading companies in manufacturing solutions and products for urban spaces and city projects. Unique design, top-level material selection and production processes, as well as low-maintenance requirements characterize the products of Metalco. The company uses 100% sustainable, certified energy for the production, as more than 7,500 solar panels have been installed on the roofs of the production plants. Thanks to these solar panels, Metalco prevents every year the emission in the atmosphere of approcimate 850 tones of CO2, and avoids to burn approximately 340 tons of oil equivalent.
